And Adam had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain. “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man,” she said. [Genesis 4:1 BSB]

The first mother, Eve, recognized that the creation of another human being inside her body was God's work, a moment of God's help. We also recognize that we can’t make this happen; it has got to be God’s help.

On our part, we ask for help. Just because we need help doesn’t mean it’s automatic – that help will just come. He who needs help asks for help.

Father God,

May it be that simple for us, too. My spouse and I will be intimate, and we will just conceive. With Your help, oh Lord, we will have a baby. With Your help, oh Lord, we will receive Your baby promise. Just as You have done with other married couples, please do so in our bodies. Please also create this baby-life in us.

Only You can help us. Only You can do this. Oh Creator of our bodies, please help us.

Thank You, Lord, for Your baby promise. Thank you, Lord, for Your help.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
