No longer will you be called Abram, but your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will descend from you.

[Genesis 17:5-6 BSB]

Then God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, do not call her Sarai, for her name is to be Sarah. And I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will descend from her.”

[Genesis 17:15 BSB]

Live a Life of Expectancy. More than just optimism; it’s hope and faith in the God of Miracles.

God's baby promise is within the marriage covenant. The Lord is not pleased if we fulfill this promise in our own capacity, and sinfully, outside our wedding vows. God values the “one flesh” of every husband and wife because the blessing includes our better half.

The Lord also changes how we are called or named to reflect the future that He has for us. The name ‘Abram’ already means ‘exalted father.’* However, this human pursuit didn’t result in any child born to Abram and Sarai; they were still childless. But God came to their rescue! The Lord renewed their identities to expand their vision of not just a handful of children, but of nations. This revival happened to the Couple of Promise. The renewed covenant is for the marriage that God has promised to bless. God raised their hopes again, and this time, it was very high and way up there. Once again, the Lord confirmed that out of their bodies will come the Promised Child. The Promise-Keeper wanted them to live a life of expectancy.

…P R A Y E R…

Father God,

Because we have no baby all through the years, we've been called some names and labels. But thank You, Lord, for You call us Parents. By Your grace, we will father and mother a child.

We embrace our future identity as parents. We will soon embrace a baby in our arms. We hold on to Your baby promise. We will soon hold our baby’s hand.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
