Water baptism is immersion under water. The water used is not significant; it’s the obedience that matters to God. There is no such thing as ‘holy water.’ We are the ‘holy’ or impure that makes water or any other material thing as ‘holy’ or impure. Physical water only cleanses our body, and not our souls. However, water baptism cleanses our minds and the inclination of our hearts.

"Baptism, which is symbolized by that water, now saves you also, not by removing dirt from the body, but by asking God for a clear conscience based on the resurrection of Jesus, the Messiah..." (1 Pe 3:21 ISV)

As you submit to and be sincere with water baptism, sin is seared off your thought life. For the first time in your life, you would know what it means to be graced with confidence. No one can condemn you. A desire to sin is washed away. A lot of Christians are burdened to move on in their walk with God. They are weighed down by their past sins and failures. Water baptism is a step that fixes this miserable heaviness.

This very act of obedience clarifies (Lk 7:29-30) God’s plan for our lives. You will be able to recognize God’s wonderful plan for your life. This is the power of water baptism; it fulfills all righteousness.
